What's the Difference Between an "Ebook" and a Digitally Delivered "Special Report"? Hefty Profits, Says Information Entrepreneur Marcia Yudkin

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 04, 2002 ) Boston, MA - With more and more packets of text being purchased in PDF format, publishers haven't always caught on to a quirk of terminology that has a huge impact on profitability. Calling an original work delivered in digital form an "ebook" greatly limits the price that can be charged for the work. The alternative label of "special report" makes it possible to charge $1 per page or more.

"Call something an 'ebook' and readers expect it to be priced less than a printed book," says Yudkin, a professional writer for more than 20 years and an information entrepreneur for nearly 10. "They reason that it's just like a tangible book except for the paper, ink and binding. However, call something a 'special report' and readers aren't comparing it to printed books. They expect something detailed and up-to-the-minute that can be priced by the value of the content for its audience rather than by its size."

Yudkin's research for her own new special report, "Profiting from Booklets & Special Reports," revealed that while you'd be hard put to charge more than $19.99 for an ebook, prices for special reports range from $5.00 for 4 pages to $97 for 90 pages, and even higher for extremely specialized items from top companies. The topics priced in this fashion ranged from health to real estate to politics to Web design.

Yudkin's new report on profiting from creative information packaging includes guidelines and templates for titles that sell; step-by-step procedures for converting documents into digital form; the three options for clearing credit-card orders online and their advantages and disadvantages; sample press releases; and much more.

"Its step-by-step instructions are fantastic. The insights are priceless," says author Joe Vitale, who himself has made lots of money from this approach. "Profiting from Booklets & Special Reports" can be purchased for $95 through Yudkin's Web site at http://www.yudkin.com/bookletsreports.htm.
