WaveRider adds true ‘Plug and Play’ capabilities to its wireless broadband systems
-- New EUM3005 indoor modem features automatic configuration and installation tools that make it easier than ever for subscribers to install their WaveRider equipment--
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 06, 2005 ) TORONTO -– WaveRider Communications Inc. (OTC BB: WAVR), the leader in non-line-of-sight wireless broadband technology and deployments, today introduced the EUM3005 indoor modem, the latest addition to its non-line-of-sight 900 MHz wireless broadband family. Featuring advanced installation and configuration tools, the EUM3005 delivers true ‘Plug and Play’ capabilities that enables wireless broadband subscribers to install the equipment quickly and easily.
“The ease of installation of WaveRider’s equipment has been a key differentiator for our products, enabling service providers to deploy their networks quickly and easily,” said Charles Brown, Chief Executive Officer, WaveRider Communications Inc. “The new EUM3005 makes it easier than ever for subscribers to install their WaveRider equipment in their home or workplace, and automatically establish a fast, reliable wireless connection that supports the advanced applications the need. They can now literally take the unit out of the box, position the antenna and establish a connection.”
The EUM3005 indoor modem offers higher radio output power which improves its RF performance. The modem also includes DHCP client, automatic CCU discovery, automatic remote configuration, and an easy-to-use Setup menu that makes the installation simple for end-users, and eliminates the need for a truck roll to establish new customers on the network. The Automatic Remote Configuration also allows the network operator to easily manage and reconfigure the EUM3005 after it is installed, including frequency selection, passwords, and SNMP parameters. The EUM3005 unit is paired with an indoor active diversity antenna that is designed to perform well in multipath fading environments.
The EUM3005 also delivers enhanced Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) support, enabling operators to offer enhanced communications services. The units deliver up to 2 Mbps over-the-air throughput, and enable non-line-of-sight wireless connections of up to 5 miles, or up to 25 miles with a line-of-sight connection.
The new EUM3005 is compatible with all existing WaveRider base stations (CCUs), enabling operators to continue to expand their networks and add new subscribers without having to re-invest in infrastructure.
“WaveRider continues to evolve and improve our products to meet the specific needs of our customers and to capture new market segments, said Brown. “Our non-line-of-sight connections, VoIP capabilities and choice of indoor or outdoor subscriber equipment have established WaveRider as provider of choice for wireless equipment among telecommunications companies and service providers throughout North America. ”
The EUM3005 is the latest addition to WaveRider’s LMS4000 family of non-line-of-sight 900 MHz products. The family also includes WaveRider’s EUM3006 integrated outdoor modem which provides network operators greater flexibility in deploying their networks and connecting subscribers. In March 2005, WaveRider unveiled its new MobileWAN system which delivers portability and mobility for wireless broadband systems.
