(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 19, 2001 ) Vanco Energy Company continues a regional seismic survey of its licenses offshore West Africa with the launch of two surveys this week.The Western Geco M/V Trident has begun a 1,200 square kilometer 3D survey of Vanco's CI-112 offshore Côte d'Ivoire. CI-112 was licensed to Vanco (operator, 76.5%), Xpronet (13.5%) and Petroci (10%) in April 1999. The group's 2D survey of CI-112 began just three months later, creating a complete grid of the block. The current 3D program will further define a major structural play in a water depth range of 1000-2500 meters.Offshore Senegal, Veritas' M/V Akademik Nemchinov has begun a 1,500 km 2D survey of Vanco's (operator, 90%) and Petrosen's (10%) Dakar Offshore Profond license. The survey will first create a grid over the St. Louis prospect in the northern sector of the block followed by a grid over prospects of interest in the southern sector of the block.Both surveys follow the commencement in late January of Vanco's 3,000 square kilometer survey over the Ras Tafelney and Safi Haute Mer permits offshore Morocco. CGG's survey is now 17% complete.Last September Vanco completed its 650 square kilometer 3D survey of License Area 1711 offshore Namibia. The survey targeted a large structure of Cretaceous age in the unexplored Namibe Basin.
