Upstate Auctioneer Earns Benefit Auction Specialist Designation
(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 20, 2007 ) Spartanburg, SC -- With over $15.6 billion raised through charity-benefit auctions in 2006, more and more non-profits and charities are turning to
professional auctioneers to help them raise donations in support of their causes.
Upstate businessman and auctioneer, Matthew Holiday, recently earned the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation. The National Auctioneers Association (NAA) Education Institute coordinates the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist designation program. The BAS program trains auctioneers to enhance
their benefit auction services. Coursework focuses on the fundraising components of the benefit auction event, item acquisition, audience development, contractual agreements, and public relations. A newly developed designation, there are less than 100 auctioneers across the country who have
acquired the BAS professional designation.
Holiday is a licensed auctioneer in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia and is a member of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association and the National Auctioneers Association. He is a graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI), the highest designation that can be earned by an auctioneer, and was winner of the prestigious 2007 Rose Award from the NAA. He has been conducting fundraising auctions in South Carolina for several years including the annual Red Cross Vintage Occasion, Auction for a Cause, Festival of Trees, the
Children’s Shelter Auction, and the Charleston Catholic School Auction. To
