But new technology called StabiliTrak is being offered in many GM vehicles that should help the driver maintain control of the vehicle even under demanding conditions.

Here's how it works. By allowing the car to get a feel for the road and what the car is doing, StabiliTrak makes the vehicle do more of what the driver wants.

In normal driving, when a driver applies the brakes, all four brakes act together. This technology, however, can apply the brakes individually to help move the vehicle in the direction the driver intends.

Handling a vehicle in inclement weather takes skill and concentration. But even the most experienced drivers will have trouble negotiating extreme driving conditions. Thanks to technology such as StabiliTrak, everyone now has a greater chance of a much safer ride.
