Tampa Surgeon Appointed to Medical Manufacturer’s Advisory Board.

Dr. Shapiro is a graduate of Tufts University, School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts,trained in general surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital and has been board certified in general surgery since 1972. He currently serves as an associate professor of surgery at the University of South Florida’s College of Medicine. He is a member of Tampa General Hospital’s Division of Trauma in the Department of Surgery and one of the directors of the Regional Trauma Center, Tampa General Hospital.
According to Ultroid President, Gerald Spurgin, Shapiro’s clinical experience in general surgery including hemorrhoid surgery, his research and publication record and his affiliation with a
nationally recognized university-based hospital, makes him uniquely qualified to serve on the company’s advisory board.
Spurgin also notes that Shapiro will conduct a blind, randomized study of patients undergoing the various methods of hemorrhoid treatment with the intention of submitting the findings for publication in a nationally recognized medical journal. The Ultroid procedure will be a part of
that study.
