Stephanie L. Battle and Kenneth Arroyo Roldan Named President and CEO of Nation's Leading Diversity Search Firm

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 26, 2001 ) Wesley, Brown & Bartle (WB&B), established nearly 30 years ago as the Nation's first diversity executive search firm, announced that Stephanie L. Battle and Kenneth Arroyo Roldan have been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer respectively.

A New York resident, Ms. Battle is a trustee and Board Member of Babson College, and a fellow of the Fund for Corporate Initiative's Young Executive Program. With an undergraduate degree from Boston University and an MBA in Finance from Babson College, she held the position of Regional Vice President of Qwest Communications prior to joining WB&B. Prior to that, she spent a 20-year career with the telecommunications industry, joining New England Telephone as a management trainee and rising to executive level operations and marketing positions at Verizon, formerly Bell Atlantic.

Also a New York resident, Mr. Roldan was most recently with the Office of the New York State Attorney General as a Staff Attorney and served as a liaison to Governor Pataki's staff working on employment-related issues. A graduate of Cornell University, Mr. Roldan was recently appointed President of the Cornell Latino Alumni Association.

"Both Stephanie Battle and Ken Roldan are outstanding leaders, whose vision has already had an enormous impact in corporate management diversity at the national level. We are excited about bringing their expertise to WB&B to continue the impact the firm has made in changing the way Corporate America recruits," said Wesley Poriotis, Chairman of Wesley, Brown, & Bartle. "Our corporate by-laws mandate that in every executive search and recruitment effort undertaken, regardless of specific request, women and minorities would be part of every finalist slate of candidates presented."

WB&B has not rested on its laurels. In 1995 at the request of The Joint Chiefs of Staff and at the personal request of The President, the firm established The Center for Military and Private Sector Initiatives to help close the widening gap between the business and the military communities.

"In a two year study of transitioning military entering into the civilian work world conducted for The Joint Chiefs, WBB&R quantified for the first time in the nation's history that women, minorities and the military faced similar deselective biases, myths and stereotypes as they competed for business and management opportunities. Quite simply, the unleveled playing field which historically has confronted diverse management communities, has now descended upon the military men and women as they leave all branches of the Armed Services," said Mr. Poriotis.

He went on to say, "Most Americans think the military have it made when they transition from the service to compete for employment opportunity in the so-called private sector. This couldn't be further from the truth. Out of the close to 3 million who have left the military since the end of the Gulf War, there may be upwards of 35 - 40% underemployment. The civilian sector has not harnessed the military occupational training and skills that the American taxpayer has funded. The President asked us to help resolve this dilemma."

With the military included, Wesley, Brown, & Bartle now embraces the full mosaic of candidates in its presentations.

To further round out its capabilities, the firm also established The Center for Diversity Achievement and Career Advancement, a 501c.3 non-profit organization, as a career navigational guide for diverse professionals in the workforce

Wesley, Brown & Bartle (WB&B) is a strategic sourcing and executive search firm with a broad-based national and international client and candidate network. Established in 1970, the company specializes in diversity, women and military sourcing, and is known as the nation's leading diversity executive search firm. WB&B has served 300 of the Fortune 500 corporations in America. Its search and sourcing capabilities, proven expertise in a wide range of management disciplines, and its unconditional 2-year guarantee secure its position as the leader among executive search firms.
