The firm logged nearly $10.5 million in sales for March, hosting 146 auctions and facilitating bids for around 11,500 registered bidders.

A house in the Bahamas, for example, sold for $660,000 in a single-lot sale. “The live auction was held in a ballroom in Dania, Fla.,” Hoberman said, “but it was an online bidder who came away with the prize.”

Proxibid also participated in the largest ski condominium auction of its kind, ever, with the sale of 237 fractional-share units and 35 whole ownership condominiums at Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel & Condominiums in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Nearly 25 percent sell-through, involving nearly 200 bidders, was achieved in a single day.

“That sale proved that the world of real estate and timeshares has truly entered the computer age,” Hoberman said. “And the same can be said of antiques and collectibles. More than a third of the March auctions were from the antiques and collectibles category. There’s a trend here, and I believe it will continue in our favor.”

In other highlights from March:

•Meares Auction Group, in Pelzer, S.C., hosted a two-day coin auction that produced online sell-through of 76%.

•Mike Graham Auctioneers, in Marlow, Okla., sold over $800,000 online in its first ever Internet auction.

•Saxonville Auction Services, in Farmington, Mass., held two antiques and collectibles auctions for the month and had sell-through online of 80%.

•Biditbob Auctions, in Scottsbluff, Neb., held four antiques and collectibles auctions for the month and had sell-through online of better than 55%.

•Cannon Auction Service, in Palo, Iowa, held a coin auction and had sell-through online of more than 80%.
