(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 30, 2002 ) In recognition of the 50-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, a sweet portrait made from over 10,000 individual Jelly Belly beans depicts the Queen at the time of her coronation in 1952. The royal portrait measures 4 feet by 4 feet and weighs in at some 40,000 calories (167,400 kJ), although it is a permanent creation and not edible, according to Jelly Belly Candy Company of California which commissioned the art piece.

The portrait will go on display in London's Oxford Street during Jubilee weekend and toured throughout the United Kingdom during the summer.

Accompanying the celebration of the 50 years of the Queen¹s reign, Jelly Belly also announced 50 official flavors are now made by the candy maker, including such tempting flavors and color hues as the very brilliant Red Apple and Kiwi flavors, to subtle tones in Buttered Popcorn and Mango. Many of the flavors feature variegated shades such as Toasted Marshmallow and Juicy Pear, allowing the artist to reflect natural coloration.

"Queen Elizabeth II, Coronation Day" is one of over 75 renderings of famous leaders in the Jelly Belly Art Collection. The first was of former president Ronald Reagan inspired by his well-known love of Jelly Belly jelly beans. Other famous portraits have included George Washington, Margaret Thatcher, Pope John Paul II and the Statue of Liberty.

Commissioned by the Jelly Belly Candy Co. after requests from British associates, the portrait was created by San Francisco artist Roger Rocha, the self-proclaimed king of jelly bean art.

Many other sweet portraits in the collection of Jelly Belly Art can be viewed at the Jelly Belly Visitor Center in Fairfield, California, as part of the free public tours offered at the company¹s California factory.
