Peugeot Launches World’s First Ever Car Design Competition On the Internet
Peugeot Speed Ahead To Elect The Car of 2020

Peugeot, the leading French car manufacturer, is set to spearhead an International design contest to elect a futuristic Peugeot vehicle for the year 2020. The competition is already up and running through the Peugeot website www.peugeot.com and deadlines for designs have been set for December 15th 2000. The winning competitor will have the glory of witnessing their art turn into reality where a real life size prototype will be created and presented at the up and coming motor trade show in Frankfurt in September 2001. The lucky winner will also be rewarded with £3000 as well as £600 for 9 runners up.
Participants will be asked to draw a design around the theme of ‘my dream car’ and present different sketches illustrating ¾ front, ¾ back and inside. Competitors will be required to explain their concept car accounting for architecture, propulsion system, energy and ergonomics . A selection of 50 designs will be chosen on originality, creativity and style by a panel of Peugeot representatives and design journalists. After which people can go online to vote, the top ten designs will be selected by an amalgamation of votes from online visitors, journalists and Peugeot representatives.
The contest is targeted to design professionals, junior designers and students, however Peugeot are challenging anyone to join in the action with the obvious exception of Peugeot designers and any persons under contract within the Peugeot organisation.
