(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 21, 2002 ) Perini Building Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Perini Corporation (AMEX:PCR) completes the final phase of the billion-dollar Mohegan Sun casino and resort. Mohegan Sun is the largest private construction project in the East and is owned by the Mohegan Tribe. Perini delivered both phases of the project in just 38 months on schedule and within budget.

This month, Perini also delivered Pechanga Resort and Casino in California and recently signed four new contracts for Native American projects, two in Florida and two in California. The combined events place Perini as the number one builder of Native American gaming facilities in the country. The company is currently ranked as the largest builder of hotels and convention centers.

The 1,200-room luxury hotel is the most significant portion of the final phase of Mohegan Sun. The tower's exterior attracts attention for miles around due to its height (it is the second tallest building in Connecticut), its all glass exterior, and sharp angled tri-wings. The 35-story hotel features over a hundred luxury suites, a glass-enclosed indoor pool that opens onto a 12,500 sq. ft. landscaped terrace, and a full-service spa and fitness center.

Perini also turned over 100,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art meeting rooms and a 45,000 sq. ft. grand ballroom. June 13 marked the official opening of the five-level Indian Summer Garage and Bus Center that accommodates 2,700 cars as well as hundreds of buses. Perini also finished The Thames River parking garage, large enough for 1,750 cars. In total, over 13,000 parking spaces were added to Mohegan Sun.

Since the project began, Perini has built over 4.9 million sq. ft. of new construction and has employed over 2,000 people on the job. Mohegan Sun holds a number of records including the fourth largest casino in the world, the world's largest planetarium, the largest ballroom in New England, and has more parking space than any other public facility in Connecticut. The size and scope of the resort are illustrated by the celebrity line-up in place to commence the opening of the hotel. It includes Rosie O'Donnell, Cher, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin, Dan Aykroyd, and Jim Belushi.
