Pavilion Hires Industry Pioneer and Names New VP of Product Development
(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 20, 2003 ) AUSTIN, Texas -- Pavilion Technologies, Inc. has hired
manufacturing process control pioneer Ian Steele as vice president of
strategic development and promoted Neil Crain, a six-year Pavilion veteran,
to vice president of product development.
Steele, a former Fonterra Co-operative Group manufacturing executive, joins
Pavilion with more than 40 years of experience in manufacturing automation.
With dairy giant Fonterra (formerly Anchor Products), Steele served as
engineering manager for 16 years. In this position, Steele was responsible
for process control systems, ISO-certified calibration systems, energy
performance and optimization systems and mechanical maintenance services.
He introduced the first advanced process control and optimization solution
into New Zealand in 1995 and managed the implementation of 130 applications
while at Anchor Products. Steele is acknowledged as a pioneer in the field
of control and automation technologies within the consumer goods industry.
"Ian is a true industry leader and an expert in helping manufacturers to
realize millions of dollars in value through reduced production costs and
increased high-quality yield," said Bill Weyand, interim CEO at Pavilion.
Since 2001, Neil Crain has served as product manager at Pavilion. His
responsibilities included product requirements definition, product
development management, oversight of quality assurance testing, and
customer fulfillment. Under his leadership, Pavilion's development team
released more products to market than any time in the company's history,
shortened product release cycles by eight months, and introduced two major
algorithmic innovations.
"Neil's expertise in product development will ensure that Pavilion remains
a premiere provider of modeling, control and optimization solutions that
deliver real value to our customers," said Weyand. "Neil's promotion is
representative of our continued commitment to our manufacturing customers,
and the advanced process control (APC) industry."
Prior to Pavilion, Crain was head engineer for KemShredder, Ltd. and worked
as an engineer in the Advanced Product Research and Development Laboratory
at Motorola. He has a Ph.D. in civil engineering, a master of science in
environmental engineering and a bachelor of science in chemical engineering
from The University of Texas at Austin.
Pavilion helps manufacturers leverage the power of their information assets
to make the best, fastest decisions possible. Pavilion's process control
and optimization technology is used by more than 350 of the top 500
manufacturers worldwide to realize millions of dollars in annual value
through reduced production costs and increased high-quality yield.
