Pavilion Appoints William J. Weyand to Board of Directors
Former Structural Dynamics Research Corporation Chairman and CEO Brings Software Industry Growth Leadership to Company
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 31, 2002 ) AUSTIN, Texas -- Performance optimization software leader Pavilion Technologies, Inc. today announced the appointment of William J. Weyand to the company's board of directors. Complimenting the company's most profitable year in its history, this new, independent board member will provide critical leadership necessary for the company to achieve its aggressive business goals.
William J. Weyand is the former Chairman and CEO of publicly traded Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), the leading provider of enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions. From 1997 to 2001, Weyand transformed SRDC's 2,500 employees from a product-centric, engineering organization into a customer-centric performance-driven culture. In less than four years, Weyand took the company from $250 million to $480 million in revenues, culminating in being acquired by EDS (NYSE: EDS) for almost $1 billion in August 2001.
"Pavilion offers an unparalleled software solution and is poised to achieve tremendous success," said Weyand. "As part of the leadership team, I look forward to helping the company build on its current profitability, customer successes and innovative culture to become a dominant force in the emerging enterprise optimization marketplace."
Pavilion Technologies provides enterprise performance management software solutions that allow decision-makers to tie action to strategy, creating more prosperous companies. Recently, the company has announced major customer wins including enterprise-wide deployment of its manufacturing optimization software for an international dairy company, an environmental performance management solution to enable a major chemical producer to improve regional air quality, and a predictive, real-time monitoring
solution that creates improved profitability for the customers of a global catalyst company.
Prior to SDRC, Weyand served as executive vice president at Measurex Corporation, the market leader of integrated process control systems for the manufacturing process industries that have been the source of Pavilion's success to date. Measurex was acquired by Honeywell in 1997. Weyand currently serves on the board of directors of Ascential Software Corporation (NASDAQ: ASCL), a leading provider of enterprise data integration solutions to the Global 2000; of Storage Networks (NASDAQ: STOR), a leader in storage management software solutions; of MSI (NYSE: MSV), a leader in Electronic Manufacturing Services; and of Riverstone Networks (NASDAQ: RSTN) a leader in metro network equipment. He also holds board positions with TechSolve, the Cincinnati Technology Initiative Angel Board, the Arthritis Foundation and is a Trustee of Nichols College.
"Bill brings a strong track record of thought leadership, strategic planning, and business management to this board position," said Chairman Lee Walker, former president of Dell Computer Corporation. "He understands the industries and people we serve and will become a valuable asset in our company's growth."
Weyand joins as an independent member of the Pavilion Board of Directors. Current Pavilion Board members include Chairman Walker, company President and CEO Pete Perialas, Ellen Carnahan and Robert Blank of William Blair Capital Partners, Rory O'Driscoll of Bank of America Venture Partners, and Larry Goldstein of Seed Capital Partners.
