(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 25, 2002 ) In the early 20th century, Paris was the center of the universe for artists. They would come here, find inspiration and learn their craft. Important works by artists such as Picasso, Derain, and Chagal were created here, and are now on display at London's Royal Academy of Arts. In a new exhibition entitled "Paris, Capital of the Arts 1900-1968," priceless works from well-known artists have been brought together. "There's a huge amount to see, astonishing masterpieces and all sorts of things that people don't know, things that people do know, so there's a kind of mixture of the familiar and the unfamiliar which is what I think makes an exhibition worthwhile," says Norman Rosenthal of the Royal Academy of Arts. From the classic to Dali to post war geometric to late 60s post modernism, this show is a one of a kind collection. "The broad backdrop of associating ourselves with quality, cosmopolitan art, Europe, all these things are important to us in our business and this is an opportunity to associate ourselves with these themes," says Kevan Watts of Merrill Lynch. Themes that stretch from the beginning of the 20th Century with artists' work being represented from then until 1968.
