(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 05, 2006 ) Washington, D.C. -- Howard University in conjunction with Microsoft Cooperation and the National Society for Black Engineers (NSBE) will host the Microsoft Windows Media Player Skins Challenge awards program on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 4 p.m. on the University's main campus.

The awards program includes an interactive showcase of the 2006 Windows Media Player Skins finalists representing Howard University, University of Memphis, Spelman College, the George Washington University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. The competition is a product of a partnership with Howard University, Microsoft and NSBE designed to encourage underrepresented minorities to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The Skins Challenge provided the opportunity for the young minority participants to develop skills with XML, Object Oriented Programming and Digital Art.

WHAT: Windows Media Competition Inspires Future Computer Scientists and Engineers
The Windows Media Player Skins Challenge winning teams will be announced during an awards program at Howard University.

WHO: Team finalists from Howard University, University of Memphis, Spelman College, The George Washington University and Georgia Institute of Technology. Students from local high schools - Banneker, Eastern and McKinley Tech are special guests.
