Musicians Win $2,500 Cash in Rock About the Roll Contest Sponsored by DuckŪ brand duct tape
(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 04, 2003 ) The rock song, I Never Get Stuck, by the band Vitallus, may not be at the top of music charts, but the tune certainly does stick. The song, written about duct tape, has earned the band the first place prize of $2,500 cash in the Rock About the Roll Contest sponsored by Duck® brand duct tape.
Vitallus band members David Kruzer, 22, and Daniel Kruzer, 19, of North Olmsted, Ohio, and Jeffrey Smith, 19, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, composed an original song that incorporated duct tape in the lyrics, beating out 163 entries from 33 states and Canada.
In addition to Vitallus, Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc., maker of Duck® brand duct tape, awarded $1,000 cash to second place winners, Matthew Graham & Miranda Skaggs, of Bryan, Texas, for their rap song Roll of Gray. Third place winner, Mike Bell, of Cincinnati, Ohio, won $500 cash for his country song Duct Tape USA.
In addition, several individuals, including Fatz Lee of Bossier City, La.; Aaron Gelperin and Josh Hurwitz of Plymouth, Minn. and Portland, Ore.; Freezepop of Allston, Mass.; Mark Scarpelli and Dan Kehde of Charleston, W.Va.; Karen Davis of Eagle River, Alaska; Bangers and Mash of Los Angeles, Calif.; No Thru Road of Surrey, British Columbia; Ken Bierschbach of Kentwood, Mich.; Two-Headed Puppy of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and Aundra Watson and Kenneth Andre of Cleveland, Ohio, were named honorable mention winners and received a year's supply of Duck Tape® valued at $180.
Michelle Heffner, Digital Communications Manager for Henkel Consumer Adhesives, said she was overwhelmed by the duct tape songs she received. "We were impressed by the quality of all the entries and excited about the creativity these musicians used in incorporating duct tape in their lyrics."
