Make Plans to Attend National Emu Convention

Farmers invited to attend

(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 22, 2006 ) MADISON, WI --- Plan to attend the 2006 American Emu Association (AEA) National Convention July 14-16 at the Madison West-Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Middleton, Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Emu Association (WIEA) is excited about hosting the convention in the Madison, Wisconsin area. This is the first time that the AEA national convention is being held in Wisconsin and only the second time that this event is being held in the Upper Midwest.

The Wisconsin Emu Association has joined together with its members from Northern Illinois along with representatives from the Minnesota Emu Association and the Iowa Emu Association to host this event which provides educational seminars, information and networking with emu producers from across the U.S. and around the world. Several scheduled programs will give attendees the latest details in emu related research and marketing. Producers do not have to be members of the AEA to participate in this exciting event. Emu producers, along with the general public, will also be able to take advantage of the “EMU MALL” trade show area featuring emu related products including several just released new products.

Many speakers specific to the emu industry are scheduled during the three-day event.
Topics include:
* “Classroom Hatching Projects” – July 14, 8:00 AM
* “Public Relations – Craft Your Story-Pitch it Well” – July 14, 9:15 AM

Plus other speakers on a variety of subjects related to the emu industry.

Emu Egg Carving classes will be available, for an additional fee, on Thursday AM & PM, Friday PM, and Sunday AM & PM. At $50.00, this is an exceptional value and the only class that you do not have to be registered for the convention to attend.

Full details of the seminars can be found on the WIEA website www.wiea-emu.org or you can contact the WIEA at 608-807-8224 for a program schedule.

The Certified Business members (CBM) will meet on Thursday, July 13 from 8 AM - Noon and the state presidents will meet that same day from 1 PM – 5 PM.

Included in the registration, on Wednesday and Thursday evenings Scavenger Hunts will be offered. A bus will take attendees to Middleton locations to find specific items.

WIEA will welcome attendees to the 16th scheduled annual convention at 6:30 PM on July 14th with a Sweet Sixteen Party. The party will have a Midwest theme, with backyard type party fare followed by a magic show and time to network with other emu producers.

The Banquet, featuring Emu Lasagna, will be held on Saturday night followed by a comedy group, various award presentations and judging of the State Baskets. These activities provide some of the main sources of funding for the AEA and emu industry research.

Advance registration for the convention, before July 1, is $175 for all current AEA members. Non-member registration is $230. Non-member "member rate sponsorships" are available. Ask about this today.

Reduced rate spouse packages are also available and all registrations include Friday and Saturday lunch, coffee breaks, Welcome Night, Banquet and access to the “EMU MALL”, which will also be open to the general public. Special convention hotel rates for those staying at the Madison West-Marriott Hotel will include a Breakfast Buffet for each day of your stay at the hotel.

The Annual AEA Convention is the place where the emu industry meets. If you have emus, are thinking about raising emus or are in any way connected with the emu industry, this is the place for you to be. It is a chance to network with other emu growers and product company representatives from across the U.S. and possibly from around the world. You will receive a wealth of information and insight into the emu industry.

The American Emu Association, along with their state affiliates, is helping to move the emu industry forward. Membership in the AEA includes membership in your state association. Be a part of this emerging industry by becoming an active member in this national organization. For more information, visit the AEA website www.aea-emu.org or phone 541-332-0675.
