(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 12, 2002 ) L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that OMNITM, a voice and data security unit manufactured by its Communication Systems-East division, was recently certified by the National Security Agency (NSA) to secure unclassified and up to and including Top Secret communication transmissions for the U.S. military, government agencies and qualified contractors. This certification supports the highest classification of government secure communications. The introduction of OMNI broadens L-3's dominant Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) product line by providing a compatible device that is a portable, low cost replacement solution to the U.S. Government's existing STU-III secure telephones and a variety of link-encryptor and dial-up networking systems in use since the mid 1980's.

All OMNI products support secure voice communication when used in conjunction with a standard analog telephone, dial-up networking, email, and data related operations when used with a personal computer or facsimile. In addition, OMNIxi and OMNIxp support secure digital communications for satellite and next generation network applications such as Voice Over IP (VoIP) and high-speed data rates of 2 Mb/s over broadband networks.
