Jody Dreyer Named to New Position: Senior Vice President, Corporate Public Service for The Walt Disney Company
(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 15, 2001 ) Jody Dreyer has been named to the new position of senior vice president, corporate public service for The Walt Disney Company, it was announced today by Michael D. Eisner, chairman and CEO and Robert A. Iger, president and COO.
In her new position, Dreyer will oversee Disney's employee VoluntEARS initiatives worldwide; the company's corporate relations function, which is responsible for all corporate community relations activities and contributions; and Disney Learning Partnership, which supports and funds creative teaching strategies, teacher recognition and professional development, and also is responsible for Disney's American Teacher Awards. In addition, Dreyer will be responsible for developing ways to integrate the divisional efforts of volunteer, philanthropic and community-based programs to enhance the company's overall impact. She will report to both Eisner and Iger.

Major cross-promotional initiatives in which Dreyer played a key role include the global release of last year's hit films Dinosaur and Remember the Titans; the launch of the company's online auction business; and the openings of new theme parks and attractions, including Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's California Adventure. In addition, she coordinated the Disney business units' cross-promotional strategies for video premiere hits such as The Lion King II: Simba's Pride; the launch of Radio Disney; and the highly successful debut albums of country music sensation SHeDAISY and British pop band BBMak. Dreyer also helped integrate and coordinate synergy efforts between Disney businesses and Capital Cities/ABC subsequent to Disney's acquisition of the company in 1995 Dreyer was named director, corporate synergy in 1993. She was promoted to vice president, corporate synergy and special projects in 1995, and was named senior vice president in 1998.
She joined Disney as a summer intern in Walt Disney World's college intern program. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 1983, where she majored in marketing and public relations, Dreyer became a member of the Guest Relations staff.
She later moved to Disney's seminar productions programs, then held advertising, community relations and marketing positions at Walt Disney World. She was named a Disney Ambassador, and traveled for a year as a goodwill spokesperson, visiting hospitals, schools and other institutions. She subsequently served as manager of marketing, synergy and special projects for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Dreyer is married and resides in La Canada, Calif.
