James Earl Ray’s autopsy video for sale on E-bay.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 04, 2005 ) Memphis, Tennessee -- Jerry Ray, brother of James Earl Ray will hold a press conference on April 4 at 1:00 p.m. The Press conference will be held at The Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jerry Ray has spent the last seven years in legal battles with the state trying to gain possession of the rifle the state claims his brother used to kill Martin Luther King. He hopes to conduct additional tests to show it was not the gun used in the assassination. The Conspiracy Museum of Dallas, Texas agreed seven years ago to purchase the rifle from the family. The State of Tennessee at that time passed legislation to retain ownership of the rifle and place it in the Civil Rights Museum.

The legal battle has exhausted his financial resources and at the news conference, Jerry Ray will announce his intention to sell the video made at the autopsy of his brother. The video was originally made to document any irregularities surrounding his brother’s death. Dr. Cyril Wecht, renowned Pittsburg Coroner, was asked by the family to observe the autopsy.

The Conspiracy Museum will hold a news conference in Dallas at the same time and will announce its intention to purchase the rifle and conduct additional tests.

The video is on mini DVD tapes and is 2.5 hours in length. The tapes were shot using two Sony Cameras, one on a tripod and one hand held.

In July 1997, Memphis Judge Joe Brown concluded that bullets fired from James Earl Ray’s rifle did not match the bullet that killed Dr. King. This ruling was based on test performed by the State of Tennessee in that year.

"The bullet we took out of Dr. King should show what those test rounds show," said Criminal Court Judge Joe Brown.
Further test were to be completed but because of lack of funds, the test were never performed and the State did not allow the sale to the Conspiracy Museum.
