'Imagine it. Done.' New Global Branding Campaign Trumpets Unisys Shift to IT Services Leader
Branding captures Unisys ability to deliver solutions in systems integration, outsourcing, infrastructure, server technology and consulting
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 13, 2002 ) Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today launched a new global branding campaign that reflects the company's growing leadership and strength in services enabled by technology. More than seventy-five percent of Unisys revenue is generated from services. Featuring the tagline, "Imagine it. Done.", the new campaign showcases the value that clients realize when partnering with Unisys to achieve their business goals.
Along with print, television and online advertising, Unisys will integrate the branding into the company's redesigned websites and marketing collateral. In a marked departure, the new campaign moves away from the monitor-head icon that had previously been the focal point of recent Unisys branding efforts.
"Our previous monitor head campaign was created to rally our employees and our customers around the transition Unisys was undertaking from a technology company to a new vision of services driven technology enabled," said Unisys Chairman and CEO Lawrence A. Weinbach. "Now that approximately 75% of our business is in services, our new campaign is focused on Unisys service capabilities by presenting real client engagements that have enabled companies to fulfill their vision. The key today is execution and our tag line 'Imagine it. Done.' speaks to our execution capabilities."
Six months ago Unisys began working with Siegelgale, a strategic branding and identity consulting firm, to conduct research on its current market perception and develop a positioning strategy. After conducting in-depth, worldwide interview sessions with executives from major clients, as well as financial and industry analysts, partners and Unisys people, the team arrived at a position statement, which reads, "Unisys brings precision thinking and relentless execution to help drive your business vision. Efficiently."
The research identified four key Unisys characteristics to support the positioning statement.
* A passion for "applied synthesis". Unisys tackles customer problems with end-to-end solutions, put together from diverse elements in our portfolio.
* An instinct for "working the core". Unisys is an important part of the global economy - with business in more than 100 countries, including 80% of major banks, 19 of the top 25 airlines, 9 out of 10 leading telecomms, 200 newspapers and 1,500 government agencies.
* A zeal to get things done. Unisys is results-oriented and known for doing whatever it takes to achieve those results.
* A deep understanding of how to leverage technology. Unisys helps achieve the customer's enterprise vision, by incorporating technology solutions that help productivity, reduce cost and deliver return on investment.
To translate the positioning and key characteristics into impactful communications, Unisys turned to its worldwide advertising agency, darkGrey (a unit of Grey Worldwide).
"darkGrey created a new advertising campaign and tag line to answer a few basic questions: Who is Unisys? What does Unisys do and why should customers and prospects care?" said Dave Tutin, executive vice president and executive creative director, darkGrey. "We worked with Unisys to identify five core competencies and gather customer case studies to answer these questions. The competencies will appear as a graphic element with the new tag line."

Advertising for the new branding campaign begins running today in print and online publications worldwide. The print campaign will use customer case studies such as Subaru of America, Inc., the U.S. Department of Defense, Vodafone Group Plc, the Government of Malaysia and the Government of Brazil. The television commercials will focus on programs Unisys has "Done" for the Wall Street Journal as well as Barclays, HSBC, and Lloyds TSB. Advertising will also begin running today, in conjunction with the 102nd U.S. Open Golf Championship. Unisys will provide computerized golf scoring and information services for three of the 2002 U.S. Open golf championships: The U.S. Open Championship, The U.S. Senior Open Championship and the U.S. Women's Open Championship events.
