Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa Marks Construction Milestone
Resort Reaches Topping Out Point And Shows Strong Pre-bookings
(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 19, 2002 ) Construction of Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa has reached the topping-out stage of the final guestroom wing for the 519-room, ocean-front property scheduled to open in January 2003. A celebration was held on March 18, 2002, with area leaders signing the final beam before it was hoist into place.
With the construction moving forward as scheduled, the resort is also showing strong pre-bookings. Despite the downturn in the economy, the resort's sales team has put more than $15 million of group business on the books just since July 2001. These bookings represent a wide variety of groups including corporate, association and incentive.
"We are extremely pleased by the initial response to Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa," said Robert Wentworth, director of sales and marketing for the property. "The strong pre-opening interest in the resort indicates the apparent need for this type of resort in Orange County." Wentworth added, "The flexible meeting space with ocean views combined with the luxurious accommodations and services at the Pacific Waters Spa make the resort an appealing option for meeting and event planners of all types."
The 519-room oceanfront resort with 58 suites is designed to simulate an Andalusian-style villa, reminiscent of Spain's southern coast, with four ocean-view courtyards positioned throughout the property. Distinctive fountains, pools and landscaping accentuate the lush "Mediterranean" garden environment. The four-story resort is perched above the historic Pacific Coast Highway providing stunning ocean views from the guestrooms and suites as well as many other areas of the resort. Guests have direct beach access via a pedestrian bridge connected to the hotel.
The guestrooms and suites feature a Mediterranean décor with a residential feel and have private terraces with most offering ocean views. Exceptional features of the resort's accommodations are the three presidential suites, each providing 3,100 square feet of ocean-view comfort and elegance.
From dramatic ocean views to lush landscapes and courtyards, Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa's 52,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space will provide more than the standard four walls. The majority of the resort's function space will be located in the Conference Center at the West end of the property complete with its own porte cochere entrance and lobby.
Guests at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort will be able to pamper themselves at the new and distinctive Pacific Waters Spa, which will provide custom massage therapies and exotic Pacific Rim inspired body treatments that are offered at no other location. Guests will enter the 20,000-square-foot, with decor reminiscent of an early California luxury estate, through the hotel's Spa Courtyard featuring a peaceful garden and Koi pond. The Spa's 17 specialized indoor treatment rooms, some with private outdoor patios, and six outdoor private treatment cabanas in a private garden are the nucleus for relaxation and rejuvenation.
For guests who seek a fitness-oriented experience, the Pacific Waters Spa will be equipped with the most advanced cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, steam rooms with eucalyptus oil mist, dry saunas, hydrotherapy whirlpools, and cool-down and relaxation lounges. A juice bar with outdoor dining patio will provide guests with an opportunity to replenish their energy. And finally, the Pacific Waters Spa will provide a full-service beauty salon providing hairstyling, manicures and pedicures to complete the guest's day of ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation.
Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort & Spa is located in scenic Huntington Beach, California between Long Beach and Newport Beach. Known as "Surf City" for its eight and one-half miles of pristine, white sandy beaches and world-class surfing competitions, this Southern California beach community is an icon of the California lifestyle.
