Homeschooling Convention To Host Top Dog

Hank the Cowdog preparing for a howling good time. As the star of forty-six books to date, Hank the Cowdog is expected to be a hit among parents and children alike at the annual THSC State Convention

(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 21, 2005 ) As the star of forty-six books to date, Hank the Cowdog is expected to be a hit among parents and children alike at the annual THSC State Convention and Family Conference, August 11th - 13th. Hank the Cowdog author John Erickson is one of special guests to be featured particularly for young conference attendees. Erickson is back by popular demand to share stories and songs from the characters of his well-known series of books. Organizers expect over 800 children to take part in the planned activities throughout the duration of the Children’s Program this year.

This year’s activities are divided into three distinct but complementary programs coordinated to provide an enjoyable experience for every member of the family. The Children’s Program theme is Texas Treasure and features skits, songs, crafts and games to engage, educate and entertain young attendees. Teens will focus on developing leadership skills through service and activities in the Teen Staff Program. Meanwhile, parents will be able to explore the exhibit hall, which will feature more than one hundred vendors on-site, and enjoy the wide variety of speakers and informational workshops.

The annual event provides an ideal opportunity for those considering homeschooling to gather solid first hand information and to access the variety of curriculum choices in one convenient location. Veteran home schoolers will benefit from the informative and encouraging workshops as well. The long weekend will begin with free workshops for adults on Thursday evening, feature Hank’s antics with Erickson’s performance on Friday night, and finish on Saturday with an encore presentation featuring Texas’s top canine “Head of Ranch Security.”

Call 806-744-4441 to arrange an interview with Tim Lambert for more information on this event and the Texas Home School Coalition (THSC). More details on the convention can be accessed online at http://www.thsc.org/convention/default.asp
