(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 30, 2002 ) Herman Echevarria, chairman/CEO of BVK/Meka has been appointed by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) as a member of the SBA's National Advisory Council (NAC). Echevarría will serve a 2 year-term.

Echevarria was recognized in 2001 by Miami Business Review as one of the top 100 most influential leaders in South Florida. He currently serves as the chairman of the Mayor's International Trade Council of Miami-Dade County. In addition, he is the current vice-chairman of the Beacon Council, a public/private partnership that serves as the economic development agency for Miami-Dade County; and chairman of the board of directors, of the Hialeah Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

In 2000, Echevarria took on the task as chairman of the Miami-Dade 2000 Marketing Initiative, a marketing initiative launched by the Beacon Council that promotes Miami-Dade County as a premier business destination through pro-active and targeted marketing campaigns. To date, he has been responsible for raising over $3,000,000 for this campaign from the public and private sectors with an estimated $9,000,000 over the next three years.
