(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 01, 2001 ) Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) announced that it has completed final shipments to the Romania Ministry of National Defence for $22 million of tactical radio communications equipment, including the company's Falcon(TM) II family of digital radios.

Harris' Falcon II RF-5800H, RF-5800V and RF-5800M radios -- high frequency (HF), very high frequency (VHF) and multiband radios, respectively -- represent the majority of equipment purchased under the contracts. These manpack radios provide Romania with reliable tactical communications through enhanced secure voice and data performance, networking, reduced size/weight, and extended battery life.

Also included under the terms of the contracts are two communications command vehicles customized with RF-5800V and RF-5800H radios and Harris' RF-6710W Wireless Messaging Terminals. The Wireless Messaging Terminal software package integrates Harris-developed robust data transmission techniques with commercial-off-the-shelf software for fast and reliable information transfer.

To support these contracts, Harris and the Romanian Ministry of National Defence are co-sponsoring a production facility in Bucharest, Romania where final assembly, test, and maintenance of the equipment occur.
