GFI’S MAIL ESSENTIALS FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE TO SUPPORT VS API 2.0: Emails in Exchange Information Store can be content checked
Emails in Exchange Information Store can be content checked
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 01, 2001 ) Orlando, Florida – GFI, leading developer of security and communications software for Windows NT and 2000 administrators, has announced that its email content checking and anti-virus solution, Mail essentials for Exchange 2000, will support VS API 2.0, the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server anti-virus application program interface. This will allow internal mail to be virus scanned and content checked.
GFI will port its Mail essentials anti-virus engine on top of VS API 2.0, becoming one of the first email content checking products to do so. This way, Mail essentials for Exchange will provide content filtering capabilities at Exchange Information Store level, heightening the product’s defences against email-borne threats. GFI is offering this new level of security in addition to protection at the gateway level.
“With the Mail essentials anti-virus engine ported on top of VS API, all emails in the Exchange Information Store will not only be scanned for viruses but also for other email threats, such as offensive content, dangerous attachments and spam,” explained GFI CEO Nick Galea on the occasion of MEC 2001, where GFI is exhibiting on stand 664 in the infrastructure section.
"Microsoft is pleased to be working with GFI in delivering customers a comprehensive content checking and anti-virus solution," said Kevin McCuistion, Exchange Group Product Manager at Microsoft. "The combination of Mail essentials for Exchange and Exchange 2000 provides a reliable solution to meet the needs of our mutual customers."
The release version of the VS API-compliant Mail essentials for Exchange will be launched in Q4 of this year. Prior to that, beta test versions are available on request.
