European Telecom Revenues Estimated At Up To $360b in 2004
(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 28, 2004 ) CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ - European telecom revenues are expected to be up to $360B in 2004, with a compound annual growth rate of 3.6% producing total revenues of approximately $430B by 2007, according to a new report from Probe Group.
"Europe's telecom environment is characterized by intense consumer competition in many of the region's most-developed national markets and trans-continental rivalries for major enterprise, government, carrier and mobile operator accounts," says Frank Barbetta, Probe Group Research Director. " In a challenging economy, low revenue gains or flat results have been commonplace, with a resurgence of M&A or even bankruptcy activity anticipated as a possibility. Service providers must contend with service migration strategies in many landline and wireless segments plus unencouraging demographics on aging populations and spending power."
Probe's recent report, "European Telecom Carriers," suggests that anticipated revenues for mobile wireless would remain the fastest gainer with a 7.4% growth rate during the 2004-2007 period and would show growing dominance of the regional revenue mix; meanwhile, revenues for local telephony, domestic long distance and international telecom are likely to see slower growth rates or perhaps declines due to market saturation in some developed countries, inroads of mobile wireless substitution, crowded markets, over capacity and price erosion.
