Dell Introduces Thinnest, Lightest Latitude Notebook Ever
Latitude X200 Delivers Outstanding Usability and Mobility
(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 06, 2002 ) For business people on the move, Dell today introduced its thinnest and lightest wireless-ready Latitude(TM) notebook ever.
The Latitude X200, which weighs 2.8-pounds1 and measures a thin four-fifths of an inch, is designed with productivity and ease of use in mind. It features a roomy, comfortable keyboard, a bright 12.1-inch XGA display, integrated communications and enough performance to easily handle daily mobile-computing tasks.
"More mobile business customers than ever rely on Dell to provide the best notebook with the right technologies and features to help them be more productive," said Tim Mattox, vice president of Dell's relationship client marketing. "There is a very specific group of mobile users who desire unconscious mobility: the ability to stay connected and be productive, regardless of location. The X200 is the lightest Dell notebook that delivers not only on mobility, but also on the important balance between mobility, usability and performance."
With a sleek industrial design similar to the award-winning, high-performance Latitude C400, the X200 is encased in lightweight but durable magnesium alloy to provide peace of mind for frequent business travelers and other demanding mobile users.
The Latitude X200, priced starting at $1,8992, offers many customization options, including:
X200 Media Base: Customers can give the X200 the flexibility of a desktop replacement notebook with an optional media base starting at $299. Customers can configure the X200 media base with a choice of optical drives, CD-ROM, CD-RW or combination CD?RW/DVD, to accompany the standard floppy drive and an abundance of connectivity ports. With the additional multimedia capabilities, the X200 still weighs less than 5.5 pounds when attached to the media base.
External Media Drives: For customers who want to carry only the weight they need, they can customize their order with a choice of external optical drives, CD-ROM (included with base configuration) or combination CD-RW/ DVD ($349) that connect directly to the X200 via the IEEE 1394 port.
58 Watt Hour (WHr) High-Capacity Battery: For longer use, customers can get more than six hours of additional battery life with an optional high-capacity 58 WHr battery for $199. The battery adds an incremental 0.6 pound to the notebook.
Optional External Battery Charger: While both the standard 20 WHr and optional 58 WHr batteries will charge when the X200 is connected to AC power, some customers appreciate the flexibility of a separate battery charger with AC adapter, priced at $79.
Beyond Hardware
The X200 comes with a standard three-year next business day on-site service3 and support plan4 .. Dell also offers a variety of additional service options, including custom factory integration, and volume software licensing. Dell's ImageWatch program helps keep corporate and institutional customers informed on issues that affect image- and hardware-transition management.
