California Wine and Food Magazine Expanding

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 11, 2001 ) Sacramento, CA.---Publisher Dan Clarke announced today that his web magazine California Wine and Food was entering its second phase and would be aggressively promoted to buyers of California products outside the United States.

California Wine and Food began life as a traditional magazine in 1993. It was conceived in concert with California’s Director of Food & Agriculture, Henry Voss, to help educate trade buyers about the state’s food products. “There was a clear need for this kind of promotion eight years ago,” said Clarke. “Today the need is even greater and internet technology has developed to the point where we can get our message to a worldwide audience of potential buyers much more efficiently.

“While the state grows well over 200 different crops on a commercial basis, there has been little, if any, collective promotion of California’s agricultural bounty. California Wine and Food speaks to the trade buyer in an exciting way (and often in his own language) and will serve as a catalyst interest in specific products, many of which have web-communication, if not web-commerce available at this time.”

Though privately held, California Wine and Food has received enthusiastic cooperation from governmental officials at both state and federal level who are charged with the international promotion of American agricultural products. Editorial content includes a Menu of the Month feature in which noted chefs prepare meals in their own style in a pairing with California wines available in the world market. Interviews with prominent figures in world trade, information on international trade fairs and in-depth articles on specific products will appear on a regular basis.

Website marketing and maintenance is provided by Beth Bridges of iBridge WebMarketing. She bring 10 years of marketing and Internet experience to the publication and also has a background in California agriculture, having been the California Tomato Commission VP of International Marketing for seven years.

The magazine has had a presence on the web at www.californiawineandfood.com for several months and expects its editorial content to double by July.
