(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 27, 2002 ) California Micro Devices (Nasdaq: CAMD) today announced the two newest members of its industry leading Power Wise Regulator(TM) Family. The CM3001 and CM3002 low dropout (LDO) voltage regulators are designed for leading PC applications, such as gigabit network interface cards (NICs) and other advanced PCI and PCMCIA cards that require very low dropout voltage at up to 1.0 Amp. The CM3001 and CM3002 can be used to supply fixed voltages of 1.3V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V from a 3.3V supply. The CM3002 also provides an enable pin to support low power shutdown mode. The CM3001 and CM3002 LDO products are also superior power management solutions for other applications that require lower voltage regulation, such as PCMCIA cards, PC computing platforms and personal electronics applications like set-top boxes and gaming consoles. "Building on our strong position and experience as the leading supplier of power management solutions to the network interface card market, we developed our CM3001 and CM3002 to meet the needs of advanced networking chipsets that require voltages as low as 1.3V to be delivered from a 3.3V power source," said Joe Salvador, director of marketing, computing products. Wide Selection of Moderate Current LDOs The CM3001 and CM3002 LDO product lines offer thermally enhanced packaging, low quiescent current, excellent load regulation and fast responses to load current changes. These products also feature low input voltage of 3.3V and a selection of fixed output voltages ranging between 1.3V to 3.3V. The CM3001 supports up to 500 mA output current, while the CM3002 supports up to 1.0A. In addition to providing protection for thermal overload, current limit, and reverse voltage, the thermally enhanced, 8-pin fused lead-frame packaging provides a low thermal path for heat dissipation. To minimize power consumption, down to150mA, some devices feature an enable pin that disables the device when it is not needed. Pricing and Availability The pricing of the CM3001 and CM3002 products for 10,000 piece quantities is set at $.73. All devices are sampling now with volume production targeted for Q2 2002.
