(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 29, 2007 ) Overland Park, KS – The National Auctioneers Association Education Institute announces that Michael Hoffman, of Michael Hoffman & Associates, Pickerington, OH, has earned the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designation.

The BAS program trains auctioneers to enhance their benefit auction services. Coursework focuses on the fund-raising components of the benefit auction event, item acquisition, audience development, additional revenue items, contractual agreements and public relations.

Nationally recognized auctioneers and professionals who serve the benefit auction industry teach the BAS program. Completion of a three-day course and submission of an auction summary report are required to earn the designation.

According to a recent MORPACE International study, benefit auctions have been on the rise, with a 16.3 percent increase since 2003. Hoffman said, “Because I conduct many benefit auctions in Ohio, I want to be more prepared to best serve the needs of my clients and be up to date on all of the tools of the fund-raising industry”.

In addition to BAS, Hoffman holds the Certified Auctioneers Institute, Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate and Certified Estate Specialist designations and is a director of the Ohio Auctioneers Association. Hoffman has also completed coursework in personal property appraisal and USPAP certification.
