Asia/Pacific Rim Telecom Revenues Estimated at up to $357B in 2004
(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 18, 2004 ) CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ -- Total Asia/Pacific Rim telecom revenues are expected to reach about $357B in 2004, with a compound annual growth rate of 5.2% resulting in revenues of approximately $459B during 2007, according to a new report from Probe Group LLC.
"Telecom service providers in the region are dealing with tough economic conditions, so this represents a decent yet slower growth rate than the 12.8% experienced in the 2000-2003 timeframe," says Frank Barbetta, Probe Group Research Director. "Likewise, although mobile wireless is expected to show a respectable growth rate in the 10.2% range during the 2004-2007 timeframe, this also represents a slowdown compared with the 26.1% boom during the 2000-2003 period, for instance."
Probe's recent report, "Asia/Pacific Rim Telecom Carriers," indicates that mobile wireless revenue importance is accelerating in relation to many other services; mobile wireless remains the fastest growing segment and it is exhibiting a near-overwhelming dominance -- accounting for 37%, 48% and 57% of total telecom revenues in the region during 2000, 2004 and 2007, respectively. There are also slightly-slower, single-digit growth rates forecast for revenues from local telephony and international telecom services while domestic long distance could experience a low, single-digit revenue decline.
