AppGenesys Recruits iA64 and Pentium Architect to Lead R&D Initiatives
(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 26, 2001 ) AppGenesys Inc., a leading Internet Management Services Provider (MSP), today announced former Intel iA64 and Pentium processor architect, Jack Mills, as Vice President of Engineering to develop and lead its R&D initiatives.
The appointment of Mills is due, in no small part, to his long list of industry shaping accomplishments. He has accumulated nearly two decades of software development, hardware development and management background.
Spending over 10 years with Intel, he was an architect for the Pentium processor, the lead architect for the iA64 instruction set and the chief micro-architect for a next generation CPU. He was also a key technical consultant in the evaluation of Hewlett Packard's technology, which led to the strategic move between Intel and Hewlett Packard that resulted in development of the iA64 instruction set.
Prior to his history-forging work with Intel, Mills was a hardware developer at a start-up company where he designed a VLIW supercomputer. Most recently, Mills was a director for the Enterprise Platforms Research Lab, with teams focused on the development of Java infrastructure, a framework for Web based application development and tuning, and next generation iA64 compilers, processors, and server platforms.
Team of Experts
Mills, who will report directly to AppGenesys Chairman and CTO, Benjamin Chen, will join a team of well-recognized industry experts in managed services and high technology initiatives
"We feel that the MSP movement is on the cusp of becoming an indispensable utility for the eBusiness model," said Chen. "With Jack Mills leading our research and development team, and with our combination of forward thinking strategies, the AppGenesys name will become synonymous with utility."
Adds AppGenesys CEO, Bruce Simpson, "Jack's presence has helped to mold the hardware industry into what is today and in becoming part of AppGenesys, he is sure to do the same for the managed services industry."
Mills holds a BS in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Institute and has attended the University of California at Berkeley. Additionally, Mills has been awarded multiple patents for various areas of architecture including, the iA64 instruction set and the design of the Pentium processor.
