(NASDAQ: AGEN) today announced that its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Garo Armen, Ph.D., was named Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Elan Corporation, plc (NYSE: ELN), a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Ireland and the United States. Dr. Armen will continue his duties as Chairman and CEO of Antigenics.

Along with other members of Elan's Executive Committee, Dr. Armen will guide the company through a transitional period until a new CEO is appointed. This search has already been initiated by the Elan Board of Directors.
