AEA Issues Invitation to Emu Farmers
(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 14, 2006 ) San Angelo, TX - This week the American Emu Association extended an invitation to emu farmers across the country to attend their 2006 convention held this year at the Madison West - Marriott Hotel in Middleton, Wisconsin. The convention will run from July 14th through 16th. “If you raise emu you need to be aware of changes and advances in the industry,” stated Charles Ramey, AEA President. “It is important for the farmer to be know about changes before they occur, not after.” Ramey went on to say that while non-members would be excluded from certifying in the Accredited Emu Producer (AEP) Classes or attending the business meeting, they would be welcome in all other convention areas.
This year’s convention host, the Wisconsin Emu association, has organized an informative and educational event. One of the classes available to non-members is the egg carving classes being taught by Texas artist DeShea Villoch during the convention. “We are pleased to be able to offer egg artists in our area an opportunity to study with Mrs. Villoch,” stated WIEA president, Joylene Reavis. Mrs. Reavis went on to say that the convention speakers would be covering topics ranging from animal ID to the use of emu manure in composting. As a part of the Saturday afternoon general session, WIEA has arranged an Emu Oil Seminar for Medical Professionals. “We are very pleased to be able to offer the seminar to area medical professionals free of charge,” said Reavis. “The presentations will be of special interest to area physicians.”
The convention runs from July 14th through 16th. More information about the convention is available at the Wisconsin Emu Association (WIEA) website, http://www.wiea-emu.org and convention registration information is available online at http://www.aea-emu.org or by calling 541-332-0675.
The American Emu Association is a non-profit trade association representing the emu industry. The emu industry is an alternative agricultural industry, dominated by the small farmer, who is devoted to humane and environmentally positive practices that will produce beneficial products for society.
