Home security systems have been popular for over a decade, but during that time, the focus of the industry has really started to change from scaring off and intruder and calling the police, to an all-encompassing system that can deal with medical emergencies, fires, and burglaries, all while sending instant updates either to an email address or a cell phone.

Home Security Austin founder Tomas McDonald says, “A motion sensor and an alarm used to be a top of the line system, this isn’t the case anymore. We are giving more options to people with the new Cellular and Pulse packages, without much of an increase in price.”

The new Cellular package integrates a cell phone connection with the monitoring service instead of a landline connection. Landlines can be cut by intruders or destroyed by fires, a cell phone connection allows for authorities to be notified in any case. Pulse offers a variety of new tools including remotely arming or disarming the system, alerts sent to an email address or cell phone, and an event log which lets customers see when the alarm has been turned on or off, as well as anything that may have caused a call to go out.
