Actos Lawsuits Allege Link to Bladder Cancer

Actos lawsuits are alleging that the diabetes drug causes bladder cancer and that the manufacturer failed to provide adequate warnings about this risk, alerts Class Action.org.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 07, 2012 ) New York, NY – A number of Actos lawsuits have been filed against drug maker Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., alleging that its diabetes drug causes bladder cancer. These Actos lawsuits further claim that Takeda and co-defendant Eli Lilly & Co. withheld information about the Actos bladder cancer risk and failed to properly warn the public. Because pharmaceutical companies have a duty, at the very least, to provide adequate warnings with their drugs, patients who took this diabetes drug and were diagnosed with bladder cancer may be able to file a claim against the manufacturer. To find out if you can seek compensation for medical bills and other losses through an Actos lawsuit, visit http://www.classaction.org/actos.html for a free case review.

Patients reportedly began contacting attorneys about filing Actos lawsuits shortly after the FDA released an announcement in June 2011 regarding Actos and bladder cancer. The agency warned that Actos (pioglitazone) use for longer than a year may be linked to an increased risk of bladder cancer. Pioglitazone is sold as a single-ingredient drug under the brand name Actos, but can also be found in combination drugs Actoplus Met, Actoplus Met XR and Duetact. According to the FDA, data from an ongoing, long-term study noted an increased risk of bladder cancer among patients with the longest exposure to pioglitazone and those exposed to the highest cumulative dose.

Patients who were diagnosed with bladder cancer after taking Actos, Actoplus Met, Actoplus Met XR or Duetact are invited to visit Class Action.org to learn more about their potential legal rights. Actos lawsuits could provide patients the chance to seek compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, lost wages and other losses stemming from their diagnosis, though there is a time limit for filing these claims.
