Carlsbad Family Dentist, Dr Christopher Molinar, D.D.S. to Provide Care to Under-Privileged Kids
Local children who lack access to modern dental care will be offered free treatment through Give Kids a Smile Program.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 27, 2012 ) San Diego, CA -- Dr Christopher Molinar, D.D.S., a Carlsbad family dentist providing both pediatric dental care and cosmetic dentistry, with a practice located in Carlsbad CA, announces his participation in the upcoming Give Kids a Smile program founded by the American Dental Association (ADA).
Today many under-privileged children go without regular dental care because their families simply cannot afford to pay for it. Additionally, these families lack basic education in oral health care that would help their children avoid serious tooth decay and the need for expensive dental care. Dr Molinar states:
“Children from this demographic often present serious tooth decay which is generally due to a lack of basic oral health care coaching. Several simple habit changes such as regular teeth brushing and limiting sweets, along with the application of tooth sealants, can impart a dramatic improvement to their situations”
Some parents tend to believe that it is of lower importance to take care of their children’s first set of teeth because these will ultimately be replaced by adult teeth after a few years. Unfortunately, this level of apathy tends to be adopted by their children making it difficult to reverse once permanent teeth grow in.
The Give Kids a Smile program with a mission to eliminate all cavities in U.S. five year olds by 2020 will set up shop in Chula Vista, CA on February 3rd 2012. Dr Molinar and staff members from his Carlsbad dental office will be providing their services to the program for free, and will be in attendance with other dentists to help screen, varnish, and apply sealants to approximately 400 children’s teeth at no cost to their families.
Children with issues outside the scope of this service will be given advice on how to proceed. The expectation is that another such program will be planned in San Diego North County later this fall to tend to children in that area.
