(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 27, 2012 ) Canaan, CT -- A study that will soon be published in the April issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research shows a correlation between teen decision-making and family alcoholism.

Researchers studied MRI’s of the brain functioning in those teens with a family history of alcoholism, as well as teens with no family history of alcoholism. Both groups were required to make decisions that ranged from no-risk to highly risky. The brain functioning of the teens with a family history of alcoholism was markedly different than those with no family history of alcoholism when it came to making decisions which involved high risks.
