Boracay Insider Website Reports Boracay Jetty Port Earnings Rise 5.22% Higher Compared to Last Year’s Earnings

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 24, 2012 ) Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines –– The jetty port that caters to tourists entering and exiting the island paradise of Boracay has declared a 5.22% increase in its earnings. This was compared to last year’s earnings and it brings good news for local citizens.
The welcome news was given away by none other than Carlito S. Marquez, Governor of the Province of Aklan. Governor Marquez bared the good tidings via his monthly report of accomplishments. The governor’s report was aired over one of the local radio stations in the province.
The two jetty ports serving the island of Boracay, the biggest tourist destination in the country, reported their total earnings amounting to PHP 118,404,245.22. This figure represents a significant increase compared to last year’s total earnings, which came up to PHP 12,526,619.65. The said jetty ports are managed by the province. One is located on the island of Boracay at Cagban and the other is located the nearby island of Caticlan, which serves as the jump off point to the said Philippine tourist gem.
The data that the Aklan Province governor shared was furnished by the Economic Enterprise Development Department. According to the EEDD records, the month that brought in the highest sales in 2011 was April where a total sales amounting to more than 16 million pesos.
The following month, May, brought in the second highest sales, which went a little higher than 14 million pesos. The third highest sales month for 2011 was December with more than 11 million pesos in reported total collections.
For the year 2011, the month that had the lowest earnings figures for the two aforementioned jetty ports was the month of September. The reported amount of collections for that month only went up to almost four million pesos.
Authorities say that the low number of collections in that said month was due to local weather conditions that prevented tourists from traveling to Boracay Island. It should also be noted that the number of tourist arrivals to the island coincides with the rise and fall of the jetty port collections.
