The event takes place across 10 days, from February 16th to February 26th, and the event has its roots in ancient pagan celebrations.
The Limassol Carnival kicks off with the famous King's Carnival parade, in which there is a procession of giant papier-mâché statues of famous local and historic figures. Also on show are fancy dress competitions where local kids get to showcase their creative skills.
The balmy climate of Cyprus sees many tourists head into town during February to enjoy the fun of the carnival, and in addition to the processions and parades there are also plenty of eating and drinking-based attractions on offer.
