The move signals an end to its relationship with Microsoft® Exchange, Outlook and Office. According to a spokesperson from Mid-Atlantic Door Group, the software was costing the company too much time on IT licenses and server maintenance.

Google Apps, according to the company, will eliminate the issues caused by having different versions on different devices. Its users are now able to access shared Google Docs from a variety of devices that enhance the speed and mobility of communicating through email.

The company also has its users deploying Google Message Discovery in order to build an audit trail to help address its compliance needs.

Although the Mid-Atlantic Door Group will save close to $60,000 in license and application reduction, its spokesperson said the largest benefits from switching to Google Apps include the time saved and easier access to work from anywhere on a variety of mobile devices.

The Mid-Atlantic Door Group distributes and installs everything from industrial overhead doors, garage door operators, and loading dock equipment for commercial customers to garage doors and retractable awnings for residential customers. It has approximately 240 associates and operates with subsidiaries located in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
