Rhemila Smith Announces Completion of SPHR Certification

Rhemila Smith has held a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification since 2007, but recently participated in study groups and passed the HRCI test to obtain the more advanced certification.
"While my PHR certification certainly allowed me to gain additional credibility among my peers and in my field, I'm the sort of person who likes to keep learning and growing," Rhemila Smith says. "I knew that getting my SPHR certification would take a bit of work, but I thought it would even further differentiate me as I move towards achieving future professional goals."
Rhemila Smith's upgraded certification was paid for, in part, with a scholarship from the Human Resource Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management. "Getting any sort of additional education can be prohibitively expensive, especially in this economy, so I'm happy for the scholarship assistance," says Rhemila Smith.
The Human Resource Association of Broward County also offers a scholarship to its members, and it's a benefit that Rhemila Smith encourages members to investigate in the 3rd Quarter of each calendar year. "Part of the joy of being a member of the Human Resource Association of Broward County is being able to tap into these resources," says Rhemila Smith. "As the President of this organization, I was always reminding members about the resources and pressing them to apply. It’s a big perk."
According to Rhemila Smith, an HR certification has many benefits. "I learned a lot about the laws that lie underneath most HR jobs, and I picked up techniques I can use in my job right now," says Rhemila Smith.
