Baby Boomers are becoming the fitness equipment king

According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Baby Boomers are hitting the gyms from every angles, eventually targeting commercial grade home gym equipment to better themselves. These trends indicate they could be most targeted end-user

Baby Boomers are fit in heaven

Baby boomers are fitness equipment king

(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 30, 2011 ) Orange County, CA -- The ACSM top fitness trends for 2011 included the number two biggest trend of all, "fitness programs for older adults." As baby boomers get older and contemplate retirement, they want to remain fit and healthy. They often have the time and discretionary dollars to spend on a personal trainer and the equipment if needed. For this reason, the fitness industry has seen an increase in business even in the slow economic times.

This trend has also helped those that are certified personal trainers as well, as employment numbers for their services have continued to rise in the last 5 years according to The International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). However, ICAA cautioned and advised Baby Boomers and their parents to adhere to their personal trainer checklist.

International Journalism Review (IJR) researched and reached out to the Fitness Equipment King website owner himself, Max Mikhaiel, who told us this "We have over a decade of retail experience in the fitness industry, our crew members have an in-depth knowledge of all the fitness equipment brands and their patented unique designs as well. This is especially important depending on the age of our clients. We will give our clients free advice in how to use any of our fitness equipment with maximum effectiveness, so they can achieve their fitness goals right from the beginning."

The fitness equipment owner cautioned that anyone using any type of fitness equipment, should always be cleared by a doctor prior to use, to also seek the advice and hands on instruction of a certified personal trainer, and concurred with the ICAA guidelines as well. Some other industry variations that prompted IJR to seek out Fitness Equipment King was they seemed to be one of the only companies that offered a regimented price guarantee coupled with free delivery. Fitness equipment in general is very heavy, especially commercial grade, so if a company offers a best price promise, along with free shipping, it warrants investigating.

IJRnews has previously reported on used gym equipment and fitness in general, most recently we looked at how "Baby Boomers target used gym equipment for longevity ," and we have noted the popularity and trends of Baby Boomers based on several published articles. The most notable trends include, joining a local YMCA, local gym, or senior club initially to accompany themselves with the proper use of various fitness machines. However, over 75% of those people that initially go to a public place, will eventually opt to purchase their own equipment and work out at home.

Whatever the reasons might be, the Baby Boomer generation goals might include losing a few pounds, building strength, lowering their handicap on the links, or taking up triathlons. Sixty is the new 40, so the fitness industry must be prepared to meet the varied fitness demands of this ever-growing segment of the population.

IJR recommends that all Baby Boomers continue to pay attention to their Quality of life. However, because the Baby Boomer generation is so large, it has also become a target for marketing guru's and bad information.

For this reason, it's important to consult health care professionals before following unqualified trainers, running to the gym, lifting weights non-stop and then running home and collapsing. No pain, much gain, seems to be the new words of choice from personal trainers who focus on lots of stretching, slow moving aerobic exercises, and other low impact activities. Combine this with the latest fitness equipment, and this massive generation can set examples for new ones.
