Hall Of Fame legend Frank Thomas hits a grand slam in the music industry
Most people know Frank Thomas as a baseball legend. However, the music industry has taken notice to his ability to scout music talent. Thomas, a humble baseball retiree, can claim some credit for discovering rising music star, Christie George.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 12, 2011 ) Thomas played an active role in changing the pop singer’s original focus of country music to more of a pop and club mix. Most of her growing list of fans says she has an eclectic mix of sound that can be compared to Madonna, Britney Spears, Kesha (Ke$ha), and Martina McBride. Christie George is a multi-talented artist who has sung and performed different genres of music including pop, rock and country. George was part of the original all girl music group that Frank Thomas originally formed, however, she left the group after coming to grips that she was a solo artist.
Thomas tried to replace George and ended up changing the groups name as well. Unfortunately, the group could not survive after several marketing attempts and exposure from Thomas' numerous connections. Some of his major exposure attempts included his three-girl band singing the national anthem at a Chicago White Sox home game.
Most industry experts say that the fans ultimately decide whether they like something or not when it comes to music. MTV journalist, Ken Nelson, told IJR this, "The toughest part about this industry is getting heard. However, even if you’re heard, you still need to have the ‘wow’ factor or ‘I want to hear that song again’ factor. If a music enthusiast is still deciding if they like a particular song after hearing it three times, it’s not going to grow on them. The radio, Sirius, and XM play that Barbara Streisand song every minute and it hasn’t grown on me yet. So, exposure alone doesn’t do it."
IJR spoke to Marl Alan Thompson with ALL THAT Productions, INC., one of George's decorated producers, and he told us this, "When Christie came in to the music studio for the first time, I was delighted… great looks, great personality, etc. When I started to hear her sing, I was amazed and couldn't believe she wasn't already signed to a label."
George told IJR, "It's been a rough road… this industry is jaded, corrupt, and money driven. And unfortunately, none of those things are part of who I am! I have funded my whole career, and I still work full-time graveyard shifts to pay all my bills. I am blessed that my career is continuing to advance; and when I get the world to listen to my music, I hope they will become fans. My goal is to be a performing artist and be able to use my influence to make a difference and give back to those less fortunate than many of us."
Christie George just finished releasing her third song as she prepares for her Halloween release party at October 27, 2011 at the World famous, "The Bank Nightclub" in Las Vegas, NV. If you would like to hear or purchase one of her singles, go to iTunes or just visit her website at www.ChristieGeorge.net.
So whether it’s playing baseball or scouting music talent, Frank Thomas continues to use some of his talents. Although Thomas and George parted ways, his eye for aptitude and George's fundamental success cannot be denied.
