Pro Who Offers DIY Make-A-Bookcase Projects Will Publish Book
Ana White, a stay-at-home mom who operates a popular do-it-yourself furniture making blog that offers free plans on how to make a bookcase and other pieces of furniture, will publish a DIY furniture book in 2012.

The book is scheduled for release in summer 2012 and will cover such DIY projects as how to make a chair, bench swing and children's table, to name a few examples. It includes some of Ana White's favorites, new indoor and outdoor furniture plans, and everything a novice woodworker must know to get started building their own simple stylish furniture on a budget.
It will be available at all major booksellers and online.
An Alaskan mother who makes her own furniture and shares how-to plans via her blog, White's book will be a compilation of new woodworking projects (http://www.ana-white.com/category/plans/tags/balin-console-table) and favorite DIY projects from the blog. She will be joined by members of the woodworking and DIY community to showcase her simple, step by step projects in the book.
"What I do on my website is so much more powerful because of the community involved," says White, who began custom furniture designs seven years ago. "The book is a collaborative effort, where I created all of the designs and tutorials, but members of the Ana-White.com community will contribute many of the completed projects, as well as tips, tricks and anecdotes."
Like White's blog, which is an online home improvement store of sorts, the book is geared toward women interested in saving money, improving storage and functionality in their homes, empowering women to use power tools, and helping people improve their lifestyle through making their own furniture.
White received three offers and selected Potter Craft- which only selects 11 titles annually- because she felt it was the best fit, she says.
Potter Craft is an imprint of The Crown Publishing Group, which is a division of Random House. Potter Craft was created in 2006 as a publisher of books that cover a variety of crafts, according to the company's website.
