(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 19, 2011 ) San Diego, CA -- Alex Faust (Jr. Northeastern University) is the winner of the 2011 Jim Nantz Award as the nation’s most outstanding collegiate sportscaster. The award was presented by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America May 16th at the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association banquet in Salisbury, NC.
A crowd of more than 330 people applauded as Faust accepted the award, then watched a video recorded by Nantz, congratulating Faust on his achievement.
Faust is the first non-senior to win the Nantz Award.
“You know within the first ten seconds Alex is an exceptional sports broadcaster,” says STAA CEO Jon Chelesnik. “His voice, enunciation, energy and pacing are outstanding and he has a good grasp of some of the more advanced sportscasting techniques.”
Five other collegiate sportscasters have received 2011 All-America honors: John Kurtz (Sr. Kansas State University) finished second in the balloting. Mike Lefko (Sr. Syracuse), Tony Simeone (Sr. Pepperdine), Brian Boesch (Sr. Ohio U.) and Alex Perlman (Sr. Syracuse) rounded out the Top 6.
