New Study Reveals Exercise Lowers Frequency of Colds Dramatically
A new study released in the British Journal of Sports Medicine has revealed that people who exercise at least five times per week have 43% less colds per year than those who lead a sedentary lifestyle.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 05, 2010 ) MIAMI, FL - Leading US scientists have revealed in a recent edition of the British Journal of Sports Medicine that aerobic exercise significantly reduces the likelihood of catching the common cold. Those who exercised 5 times per week had 43% less incidents of the common cold, while those who exercised 3 times per week had 31% less incidents of the common cold.
The researchers concluded that exercise triggers a temporary boost in the function of the immune system cells that pervade the body. While these immune system cells soon return to their regular state of activity, that burst can lead to a greater level of pathogen detection, resulting in the destruction of harmful viruses, bacteria and other organisms.
The key to this spike in immune system activity was aerobic exercise, as typified by the Insanity Workout, a 60 day aerobic interval training regimen that is done six days / week. The P90X Workout is another example of long term aerobic and resistance training that meets the requirements set forth by this study, in that PX90 contains large amounts of plyometrics and cardiovascular exercise.
Both workouts can be purchased at Extreme Fitness Results, which offers everything fitness related from at-home fitness programs like the vaunted Turbo Fire and Shaun T’s Insanity Workout regimen, to exercise equipment, cardio enhancing tools, Yoga accessories, and other nutritional supplements.
