ProFighting-fans.com Covers UFC 119: Mir vs. Cro Cop

Live UFC 119 results to be posted on leading UFC news site

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 23, 2010 ) Cleveland, OH - ProFighting-fans.com, one of the most dedicated and fastest-growing sources for MMA news, results, commentary, and original content online, is pleased to announce that the official ProFighting-fans.com Blog will provide live coverage for UFC 119: Mir vs. Cro Cop. The event takes place Saturday, September 25 from Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, with the main card airing on Pay Per View.

If you will be unable to attend the event or order the live Pay Per View broadcast, be sure to check out the official blog at ProFighting-fans.com for the up-to-the-minute UFC 119 fight results and commentary for all of the main card bouts.

Although he was originally set to face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in a rematch in the main event of the evening, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir will instead face another Pride FC legend when Croatian kickboxer Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic steps into the cage in Indianapolis.

A clash of styles, the heavyweight showdown will mark the pair’s first meeting in the ring or cage. While Mir is undoubtedly the better rounded mixed martial artist, and certainly has the ability to put his opponent away both on the feet and on the ground, Cro Cop is still one of the most respected heavyweight strikers in the history of the sport.

At 36 years of age, it would seem that Cro Cop’s best days are long gone, but the impressive Croatian doesn’t know the meaning of the term “giving up,” and has instead reeled of two straight wins, the latest being a Submission of the Night over fellow striker Patrick Barry at UFC 115 in June.

Neither man figured immediately into the current heavyweight title picture, but this fight has serious implications, more so for the loser than the winner. Will one of these men once again rise to the top of the division in 2011? We are eager to find out.

Also on the card, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, the smaller brother to Rodrigo Nogueira, will attempt to take another step toward title contention when he locks horns with undefeated light heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 8, Ryan “Darth” Bader. With both men having promised to put the other away on their quest for UFC gold, this one should have excitement written all over it.

Fans can follow all of the exciting action, beginning with the UFC 119 predictions, online at http://www.profighting-fans.com/ through the fight to the event recap.
