Crude Oil Stocks Jumped with Equities (UNG, USO, XOM, RDC, ESV)
Oil Stocks on Wednesday.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 02, 2010 ) Dallas, Tx - Oil futures started the first day of September with their best one-day gain in nearly a month Wednesday, on better global manufacturing data cast the demand picture in a brighter light. Oil for October delivery ended floor settlement on the New York Mercantile Exchange up $1.99, or 2.8%, at $73.91 a barrel.

That was the biggest one-day gain since August 2, according to FactSet Research. Heating oil futures added 5 cents, or 2.5%, to $2.041 a gallon after Energy Department data showed a surprise drop in stockpiles.
Crude had nice support at lower levels largely due to Hurricane Earl which quickly gathered strength Monday and becoming a dangerous Category 4 storm as it roared past Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
However, natural gas futures bucked the trend ahead of Thursday supplies data, fell 5 cents, or 1.4%, to $3.76 per million British thermal units.
United States Natural Gas Fund, LP (NYSE:UNG) lost 1.71% to $6.27. Last week, the ETF made a new 52-week low of $6.19.

Shares of Oil Drilling companies soared on Wednesday after Houston energy research firm Tudor Pickering Holt noted that U.S. regulators have OK'd a fourth shallow water drilling permit this week in the Gulf of Mexico, a regarded as a step in the right direction to end the current drilling moratorium.
Rowan Companies, Inc. (NYSE:RDC) is the biggest gainer and soared 8% to $27.74 on hefty volume. So far this year, the stock has jumped over 20%. The stock has a 52-week range of $19.66-$32.82.
ENSCO PLC (NYSE:ESV) rose 6.15% to $43.29. So far this year, the stock has jumped over 6%. The stock has a 52-week range of $33.33-$52.32.
